The Power of your Environments

One’s action or environment can either impede or propel one’s growth.

I once prioritise the people in my life and sacrifice my happiness unknowingly to me. I had a wake up call when I discovered that what was meant to be the best thing in my life was causing me so much pain.

My religion was meant to be the best thing in my life, soon I realised this was bringing me the biggest pain, not because of my devotion to God, but because I allowed some people to play the role of God in my life. At some point, I realised that some of the heart wrenching events in my life were related to church or religious activities,  especially people that I have so much love for and respected. Even though I was successful in other areas, at this point my mental health was greatly impacted; other areas started to suffer .

It’s worth mentioning that I love serving, be it encouraging others, leading worship or giving word of exhortation. I soon realised  the need to reevaluate my service (what does God want from me?). Re introduce myself to my faith and myself.

I have learnt the need to constantly reevaluate the environment I put/ found myself in ( including relationships and workplace); detach myself from all negativity or toxic environments. This is probably one of the most difficult task but the peace it  brings is immeasurable.  It’s important to review if an environment or a relationship will hinder or improve your growth.

I am glad I took ownership of my life because reevaluating my stance is contributing towards my progression whilst empowering others.

Today, I have some of the most amazing people in my world and I am thankful for them.

Remember you own the key to your world, use the key wisely!! XOXO
